IN VOJVODINA
The project of tourist signaling involves marking the directions of movement towards the following protected areas:
1. PROTECTED AREAS AROUND SUBOTICA
SRP “Ludaško jezero” – 846 ha
SRP “Selevenjske pustare” – 677 ha
PIO “Subotica peščara” – 5,369 ha
PP “Palić” – 712 ha
International status:
IBA (Subotica lakes and wastelands), IPA, part of the Emerald ecological network (all four areas) and Ramsar site (Ludaško lake).
SRP "Ludaško jezero"
One of the oldest reserves in the country. The rich bird world consists of more than 230 species, wild geese, ducks, herons and other types of birds associated with wetlands. The surroundings of Ludaš are rich in cultural and historical monuments (the old settlement of Ludaš, examples of traditional architecture, farms) and there are also several archaeological sites.
SRP "Selevenjske pustare"
An area with preserved original sandy and marsh habitats of the desert and numerous characteristic species such as, for example: blue crow and sand iris. A significant place is the medieval site Templompart and the object of the old forester's house.
PIO "Subotica peščara"
Characteristic for its sandy habitats and species. Preserved fragments of natural vegetation are valuable evidence of the plant cover of the Pannonian Plain in the past.
NP "Palić"
In addition to the zoo and numerous cultural and historical values, the NP Palic also has landscape values with rich greenery and flower beds, sports and recreational facilities, as well as significant natural values.
Touristic - educational contents:
• “Ludaš” visitor center: The facility has a hall (50 seats) and a biological laboratory intended for lectures and the implementation of educational programs, especially for school youth. During the summer, several types of camps are organized that are thematically related to the protection of the nature of Ludaš.
• Educational trail “Churgo”: It starts from the Visitor Center “Ludaš” and after 2700 m reaches the end point at the locality of Čurgo. At the beginning of the trail, there is a large board with a map of the reserve and marked educational trails with pictures of the different habitats that follow the trail. Next is the observatory for four people intended for bird watching. Eight information boards have been placed along the path about the importance of the Reserve, through stories about the traditional way of life, the steppe, the lake, the settlement of the region and culture throughout history, the water regime of the lake, fish, as well as about the plant life and birds of the wet meadows.
• Educational trail “Kireš”: The trail is 2,300 m long and ends at the bridge over the river Kiresh, which flows into Lake Ludaško not far from that locality.
• Educational trails in SRP “Selevenjske pustare”: Two educational trails with a total length of 8 kilometers have been arranged. Following the educational trails, visitors can learn about different types of habitats, as well as the living world and problems in the field of nature protection.
2. NATURE PARK "KAMARAS"
Area: 267,96 ha
Includes a complex of wet habitats, which is located at the triple border of the Subotica-Khorgoška sandstone, the loess terrace and the Tisa alluvial plain. The water regime depends to a considerable extent on the hydrological conditions of the sandstone. The area of the natural property also includes part of the area of Potisje. The most important natural characteristics of the complex of wet habitats are determined by the geographical position, pedological and hydrogeological characteristics of the area. Remains of natural vegetation belong to the most endangered types of vegetation in the Pannonian region.
3. SPECIAL NATURE RESERVE "GREAT DROPLJE PASTURES"
Area: 6,775 ha
International status: IBA, IPA and Emerald area The area has its original appearance as a preserved mosaic of steppe, salt marsh, meadow, and swamp ecosystems, which are abundant with rare species of plants, insects, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals. This complex of habitats is also a refuge for the only remaining population of the great bustard (Otis tarda) in Serbia, one of the most endangered birds in Europe. Active protection measures implemented in the Reserve not only improve the conditions for the survival of this magnificent bird, but also restore the landscapes of the primeval parts of the Pannonian Plain: vast wastelands and vast pastures inhabited by herds of sheep and cows, giving a unique picture of the past of this area.
Touristic - educational contents:
• Visitor Center: It was built near the northern border of the “Jaroš” area, not far from the Mokrin settlement. It contains two closed rooms, a central terrace and a high tower for observing the terrain. In total, it can accommodate around 30-50 visitors.
• Educational trail: It leads from the access asphalt road to the visitor center in a length of about 2 km. At three places along the trail there are information boards for the education of visitors.
4. "STARA TISA" NATURE PARK NEAR PEARL ISLAND
Area: 391 ha
International status: IBA area Stara Tisa, with its length of 24.5 km, is the largest meander of the Tisa River in Vojvodina. The fundamental value, which is why it has been placed under protection, is the preserved mosaic of water and wet habitats with a rich living world. It is a refuge for more than 100 plant species, 23 species of fish, 7 species of amphibians, 3 species of reptiles, 166 species of birds and a significant number of mammal species. Due to the rich fish stock, it is a favorite place for fishermen, but it does not leave indifferent those who come there with the aim of enjoying the observation of natural wealth, representatives of the living world and impressive landscapes or for rest and recreation. The water surface surrounds the Pearl Island, an area known for its developed rural tourism and for its large areas under orchards and vineyards, from where the famous Muscat wine, Krokan, originates.
Touristic - educational contents:
• Visitor Center: It is located along the access road from Bački Gradište, on the side of the Pearl Island. The main purpose of the facility is the stay of the guard of the protected area, but it is also used for short stays of smaller groups of visitors for information on the content and values of the area.
• Educational trail: The eco-trail is 22 km long along the border of the protected area and is marked with visible signs. Information boards can be found along the trail, which are placed in three locations.
• Bird observatory: It is located along the banks of the Stara Tisa, in the location Gornji rit. As part of this facility, there are two canopies with benches and tables for resting and an information board for the education of visitors. From the observatory there is a view of the vast wet meadows and pastures on the northern side of the protected area, the colonies of herons and cormorants on the Becej pond, as well as the beautiful landscape of the Stara Tisa basin.
5. SPECIAL NATURE RESERVE "SLANO KOPOVO"
Area: 976 ha
International status: IBA, IPA, Ramsar and Emerald area Special nature reserve "Slano kopovo" is one of the last preserved brackish ponds in Serbia. In the area of the Salt Mines, there are specific slatine plant communities that are in the process of disappearing, not only in Serbia, but also in the entire Pannonian Plain. A special feature of the space is the specific community of glassworks and jurčica, which are mutually exclusive in other areas. Over 210 species of birds have been recorded in the area of Slani Kokop, of which 73 belong to nesting birds. During the migration season, several thousand ducks, geese and cranes can be seen at the same time on Slani Kopo.
Touristic - educational contents:
• Visitor Center: It is located along the northwestern border of the reserve and is used to display informative content, hold ecological workshops, classes in nature, expert meetings, as well as to watch the guardians of the protected area. It has the capacity to receive from 15 to 30 visitors. Within the building there is a high tower for observing the landscape.
• Organized Guided Visits: Organized visits start from the shelter at the southern entrance to the reserve, continue along the educational trail along the western border, which passes the revitalized meadows and ends at the visitor center. Two high and one low observation deck with educational panels enrich this route. One medium observation tower is also located on the eastern side of the reserve.
6. "RUSANDA" NATURE PARK
Area: 1.159,97 ha
International status: IBA and IPA area Nature Park "Rusanda" was declared by the Provincial Government in 2014 and is the first protected area of category II of provincial significance in Serbia. The national importance of this area is confirmed by its inclusion in the national ecological network. It represents the Pannonian salt steppes and salt marshes, which are a priority for protection in the Pannonian biogeographical region. Lake Rusanda is one of the largest salt lakes in Serbia and, together with Slani Kopovo, Okanje and several smaller salt lakes and ponds in Serbia and Hungary, represents the only such preserved mosaic of salt habitats in the Pannonian Plain. 8. SPECIAL NATURE RESERVE "RITOVI DONJE POTISI"
Area: 3.010,67 ha
The SRP "Rites of Lower Potisje" represents the most representative and attractive preserved rite complex in Potisje, Serbia, located on the left and right banks of the Tisza River itself, whose waters regularly flood it. The protected area includes a complex of heath habitats: forests of black and white poplars, white willows, wet meadows enveloping shallow depressions, extensive wetland complexes, open water mirrors of permanent and temporary ponds and eight old meanders of the Tisza. In this protected area, there are 16 plant species, 22 habitat types as a priority for protection, 9 species of insects, 20 species of fish, 10 species of amphibians, 4 species of reptiles and 147 species of birds with the status of strictly protected species in Serbia, and 85 internationally protected Species. The protected area with its wet habitats and water flow is part of the ecological corridor along the Tisza, building a national ecological network, which is connected to the Pan-European Ecological Network. As an important element of the Tisa ecological corridor, it connects the habitats of the Nature Park "Stara Tisa" near Biserni Island, PP "Jegrička", SRP "Titelski breg" and SRP "Carska bara".
9. SPECIAL NATURE RESERVE "CARSKA BARA"
Area: 4.726 ha
International status: IBA, IPA, Emerald and Ramsar area The protected area is an authentic complex-mosaic of marsh-marsh, meadow, steppe and salt marsh ecosystems with a diverse and rich living world, and is located in the confluence of the Begeja and Tisa rivers, on the territory of the municipality of Zrenjanin. The natural values of the protected area are reflected in the great diversity of plant and animal species and their communities. About 500 plant species, 150 insect species, 11 amphibian species, 5 reptile species, 24 fish species, 50 mammal species and 250 bird species have been recorded. Tsarska Bara is an important station and resting place for birds migrating from Europe to the Mediterranean and Africa, and is characterized by the presence of all eight European heron species.

10. SPECIAL NATURE RESERVE "TITELSKI BREG"
Area: 496 ha with a protective zone of 8,643 ha
International status: IBA, IPA, EMERALD Titelski breg area is a unique geomorphological unit and natural phenomenon. Almost all possible forms of loess topography and phenomena related to their formation are concentrated in a relatively small area: ridges, shelves, shoulders, loess sections, etc. They represent one of the most detailed paleoclimatic and paleoecological archives on the European mainland, during the last 600,000 years. The fauna of Titelski breg is very diverse and is characterized by the presence of rare and endangered species, characteristic of lowland-steppe areas. About 630 plant species, 137 bird species, nine amphibian species, 11 reptile species and 33 mammal species have been recorded. On the steep loess sections, there are numerous colonies of bee-eaters (Merops apiaster) and damselflies (Riparia riparia).
